Human Rights Awareness in Makala: Let’s Commit to a Respectful Community

The local human rights committee (CLDH) of the commune of Makala recently organized a human rights awareness campaign, a crucial initiative to instill a culture of respect and defense of fundamental freedoms within the local community.

The awareness-raising morning brought together men and women to address the issue of protecting human rights in a region where they are often undermined. The keynote address by Maître Macaire Bilombi, member of the justice and peace commission of the parish of Saint Mathias Murumba and former mayor of Makala, highlighted the importance of everyone’s involvement in promoting these inalienable rights.

By emphasizing that insecurity is a social phenomenon requiring the commitment of all, Maître Bilombi encouraged citizens to become actors in the security of their own community. It is essential to understand that the defense of human rights is not the responsibility of the authorities alone, but of each individual invested with a responsibility within society.

The campaign led by CLDH/Makala in partnership with the NGOs Diakonia and La Voix des sans voix pour les droits de l’homme (VSV) symbolizes the importance of solidarity and collaboration in favor of a common cause: guaranteeing the rights and dignity of all.

It is crucial that every citizen becomes aware of the scope and importance of human rights, which are nothing other than the rights inherent to every person, regardless of their origin, social status or any other consideration. Committing to these fundamental rights means contributing to the construction of a more just, respectful and harmonious society for all its members.

Ultimately, human rights awareness should not be seen as a one-off initiative, but as a continuous and collective effort to consolidate and defend the universal values of humanity. Every voice counts, every gesture counts. It is time for everyone to stand up and play their part in promoting and protecting human rights.
