Fatshimetrie, edition of November 6, 2024. A great initiative is taking shape in Kisangani, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the Centre C Football Academy offers a glimmer of hope to more than 250 young people aged 6 to 17. In the space of three years, these young people, 146 girls and 104 boys, have benefited from comprehensive training in the practice of football. This academy, launched by a volunteer association established in Denmark and directed by Clément Kibangula, is establishing itself as a real springboard for these children and adolescents who are passionate about this popular sport.
The project goes beyond learning football. Indeed, it aims to provide a healthy environment where young people can flourish, learn the values of solidarity, acceptance and mutual respect. This social dimension of the project is essential, because sport can play a major role in preventing juvenile delinquency by offering positive prospects to young people.
The commitment of the Centre C Football Academy is not limited to sports training. Indeed, in partnership with local coaches and a local coordinator, the objective is to support these young players on an educational and personal level. By making them aware of the importance of hope, joy, mutual respect and self-discipline, the academy helps to forge responsible and committed citizens.
Clément Kibangula’s initiative is commendable, because it is based on the values of volunteering and solidarity. By offering his time and expertise to support the youth of Kisangani, he shows that it is possible to make a difference, even with modest means. This altruistic approach is an example to follow for all those who wish to contribute positively to society.
Three years after its launch, the Centre C Football Academy has not yet produced any football stars, but it has already transformed the lives of many young people by offering them opportunities, values and prospects for the future. This beautiful story is a testament to the power of sport to change lives and build a better future for Congolese youth.
