The Ituri Youth Problem: Patriotic Awakening for Peace and Development
The Ituri province, in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo, has been plagued by unrest and conflict for many years. The youth of this region, although the future of the country, often find themselves marginalized and confronted with major challenges. It is in this difficult context that an awareness-raising workshop on patriotic awakening opens, a crucial step for the return of lasting peace.
The youth of Ituri are called upon to become aware of their essential role in building a peaceful and prosperous society. It is imperative that each young person takes an active part in this quest for peace and development, because it is on their commitment that the future of the region will largely depend. The interim president of the Ituri Provincial Youth Council (CPJ), Eugénie Kansime Fwambe, emphasizes the importance of this collective mobilization to achieve concrete solutions to the challenges facing young people.
This workshop marks a significant step forward in the process of building an integrated roadmap, which will highlight the specific needs and aspirations of young people in Ituri. This roadmap will be a valuable tool to raise awareness among national authorities and make the security situation in the province a priority. It is essential that young people be at the heart of decisions that affect them, and this workshop offers them a platform to express their concerns and ideas.
Ituri’s youth can count on the support of personalities committed to peace and development in the region. The Minister of Youth, Noëlla Ayeganagato, and the Deputy Minister of National Defense, Samy Adubang’o, will bring their expertise to this workshop to discuss crucial themes such as strengthening civil-military relations and combating the balkanization of the DRC. The Military Governor of Ituri, Lieutenant General Johnny Luboya N’kashama, will highlight the roles and responsibilities of the armed forces and the national police in a state of siege.
This meeting is an opportunity for the youth of Ituri to become actively involved in building a better future for their region. By taking part in this workshop, young people will be able to help shape sustainable solutions to overcome the challenges they face. It is time for the youth of Ituri to mobilize to make their voices heard and fully participate in building a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous society.
