The fight against urban banditry in Kinshasa: Together for a safer city

In Malueka, Kinshasa, an altercation between Kuluna gangs causes tension. Police intervene to arrest suspects, but insecurity persists. The community is called upon to collaborate to combat urban banditry and ensure tranquility. Concerted action is needed to prevent future incidents and ensure a safe environment for all.
The situation in Malueka, in the commune of Ngaliema, in Kinshasa, was the scene of high tension on November 4, 2024. This tension was caused by an altercation between two groups of Kuluna, the urban bandits who disturb the tranquility of the inhabitants of the Congolese capital.

Faced with this situation, the urban police station of the Pompage district intervened to restore order and ensure the safety of the inhabitants of the region. This intervention led to the arrest of four women and one man who were involved in acts of violence and vandalism, according to the statements of the deputy senior commissioner, Jean Marie Kwet.

It is alarming to note that the population of Avenue Sous le manguier lives in fear and insecurity, unable to enjoy peaceful nights due to the actions of the Kuluna. Despite the ground patrols carried out regularly by the police, these delinquents manage to escape the vigilance of the authorities and continue to sow trouble.

Commissioner Jean-Marie Kwet calls for denunciation, urging the population to cooperate with law enforcement to identify and neutralize individuals involved in criminal activities. He stresses the importance of community solidarity in the fight against urban banditry and warns against the consequences of omerta and passive complicity.

This situation demonstrates the need for concerted action by the authorities and the population to guarantee the safety and well-being of all residents of Kinshasa. The fight against urban banditry must be strengthened and effective measures must be put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.

In conclusion, cooperation between law enforcement and citizens is essential to ensure public tranquility and guarantee a safe and stable environment for all. It is essential that everyone contributes, at their level, to the protection of the community and the prevention of crime, in order to build together a safer and more harmonious future.
