Kinshasa, October 27, 2024 – The city of Kinshasa is preparing to host a major event from October 30 to November 1, 2024. Indeed, under the aegis of the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, the famous Fleuve Congo Hotel will be the scene of the first meeting of the year 2024 of the Steering Committee of the Union of African Shippers’ Councils (UCCA).

This event, organized by the Multimodal Freight Management Office (Ogefrem), will bring together nearly 20 general managers of UCCA member countries. These senior officials will meet in Kinshasa to discuss and exchange on the technical measures to be put in place in order to facilitate and effectively assist African shippers. This meeting is of capital importance in promoting trade between African States.

The countries participating in this meeting include Senegal, Congo Brazzaville, Gabon, Cameroon, Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Guinea-Bissau, Niger, Chad, Togo, the Central African Republic, Mali and the host country, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This meeting will not be limited to the general managers of the UCCA member countries. Indeed, members of the government of the Republic and public institutions in the transport and foreign trade sector are also invited to participate.

The UCCA, a specialized body of the Maritime Organization of West and Central Africa (OMAOC), plays a key role in cooperation between the national shippers’ councils and similar bodies of the West and Central African States. Created following the 3rd Maritime Conference of West and Central African States (CMEAOC) held in Accra (Ghana) in 1977, the UCCA works to strengthen economic and commercial exchanges between African countries.

This meeting therefore promises to be rich in exchanges and constructive discussions aimed at facilitating the transport of goods and promoting international trade on the African continent. It is hoped that the decisions taken at this meeting will contribute to further strengthening collaboration between UCCA member states and promoting economic development in Africa.

Kinshasa is preparing to host this major event, which promises to be an unmissable event for stakeholders in the business and transport worlds in Africa.
