Fatshimetrie: Félix Tshisekedi rejects any change to the Constitution
Congolese Head of State Félix Tshisekedi clearly expressed his opposition to any attempt to change the Constitution in order to extend his mandate during a speech at his recent rally in Kisangani. Firmly, he stressed that the issue of changing the Constitution to stay in power does not concern him directly, but rather other aspects of the fundamental law that require revision.
Félix Tshisekedi stressed the need to adapt the Constitution to the realities of the country and announced the establishment of a commission bringing together Congolese experts to address this issue. He also criticized the delay in the functioning of the government and provincial assemblies, stressing the need to modify certain provisions to ensure the smooth running of the country.
By calling for the unity of the Congolese as a bulwark against any division and hatred between peoples, the President stressed the importance of peace to rebuild what has been destroyed. He highlighted the inter-ethnic conflict between the Mbole and the Lengola in Kisangani, stressing the importance of maintaining the climate of peace between these two communities.
Furthermore, Félix Tshisekedi outlined the main axes of the government’s action program, highlighting investment in education as a guarantee of the future of youth and the country. He stressed the importance of job creation for young people through the promotion of entrepreneurship, and encouraged the use of local currency in transactions to stabilize the country’s economy.
Finally, the President addressed the development of Kisangani, announcing government projects to raise the level of the city. He also plans to inaugurate the renovated infrastructure and chair the Council of Ministers there, while meeting with various social groups to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the region.
