In a constantly changing world where the challenges of peace, sustainable development and respect for human dignity are more relevant than ever, Congolese youth were offered a platform for exchange and reflection at a conference organized in Kinshasa in partnership with United Nations agencies.
Associated with the celebration of United Nations Day, the young participants were able to express their ideas and concerns regarding the actions carried out by the United Nations, particularly in the field of peace. These exchanges were an opportunity for them to better understand the initiatives put in place to promote peace and stability in the world, despite the persistent challenges.
During this meeting, the young people shared their point of view, expressing their expectations regarding the measures taken to combat international crimes and ensure respect for human rights on a global scale. These exchanges allowed a better understanding of the importance of the United Nations’ commitment to finding lasting solutions to the crises that are shaking our planet.
Aristide Ongone, FAO Resident Coordinator, highlighted the importance of this day by recalling the values of solidarity, respect for human rights and unity needed to build a better future. He also highlighted the crucial role of young people in building a more just and equitable world, stressing that they will be the key actors of tomorrow’s change.
Beyond discussions and exchanges, various activities were organized to raise awareness among the Congolese population about global issues and promote the values advocated by the United Nations. This initiative brought young people closer to these crucial issues, inviting them to reflect on their role and impact in building a peaceful and sustainable future.
By celebrating United Nations Day under the theme “Acting together for peace, sustainable development and human dignity”, the international community reaffirms its commitment to the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter. This symbolic day is an opportunity to reaffirm our common desire to build a better world for all, where peace and human dignity prevail.
Ultimately, this conference allowed Congolese youth to become aware of their crucial role in building a peaceful and sustainable future for all.
