Security in the DRC: The Mobondo phenomenon is spreading in the outskirts of Kinshasa
Insecurity in the provinces of Kwango and Mai-Ndombe in Grand Bandundu with the “Mobondo” phenomenon is very real. This phenomenon has spread to the outskirts of Kinshasa, particularly in the commune of Maluku. It has also spread in Kwango as well as in Kongo Central.
The “Mobondo” are militiamen who fought during the bloody conflict between the Teke and Yaka communities in Kwamouth, in the province of Maï-Ndombe. They then entrenched themselves at Batshongo in Kwango.
The government advances political manipulation whose objective is to weaken state institutions and sabotage state authority. The boss of the Territoriale had informed during a press briefing in Kinshasa that the information at his disposal indicates the involvement of certain political figures and notabilities who maintain this conflict, intoxicate populations, incite them to massacre others believing thus to weaken state institutions and sabotaging state authority.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the Interior paid a visit to Kwamouth to take stock of the situation there and see “the progress” that has been made by the security services.
In addition, Peter Kazadi reported on the activism of armed and terrorist groups in the provinces of Ituri and Tanganyika and the presence of elements not yet identified in the province of Kongo-Central, mainly in the territory of Lukula.
Faced with this delicate situation, it is important to be vigilant and to stay informed, in order to better understand this state of tension which prevails in these provinces of the DRC.
