The Southern African Development Community Organization (SADC) chose Kinshasa to host a meeting on the evaluation of the implementation of its common plan for gender equality in government programs. During this meeting, the senior executives and secretaries general of the ministries of gender have the task of taking stock of the actions carried out in each member country of the organization, of defining the points for improvement, and finally, of evaluating the evolution of government programs. Secretary General Esther Kamwanya underlined the importance of this meeting, which prepares that of ministers on the same subject.
The Permanent Council in charge of Gender Equality is held face-to-face and online to allow delegates from member countries who were unable to attend to participate despite everything. The theme of the meeting is related to that of the Council of Ministers, aiming to promote industrialization to enable inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
SADC meetings take place under the current mandate of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as head of the organization. The Secretary General officially launched the meeting on the morning of May 30.
