Local Government Elections in Kogi State, Nigeria: A Triumphant Democracy

The results of the recently held local government elections in Kogi State, Nigeria, were a successful demonstration of democracy. Mamman Nda-Eri, Chairman of the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), said the electoral process was peaceful, free, fair and credible.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that among the elected local council chairmen, a woman was elected who won the seat in Ogori-Magongo local council.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) performed excellently, winning all the council chairmen and councillors’ positions, relegating the other 18 political parties to the background.

The results were declared at the headquarters, after being previously transmitted by the various returnees to the respective tabulation centres. Mamman Nda-Eri, in his capacity as Chairman of KOSIEC, confirmed and validated the results as declared by the returnees.
