Analysis of the deadly strikes in Gaza: Violent escalation of violence combined with political stakes

Fatshimetrie: In-depth analysis of Gaza strikes

The escalation of violence in the Gaza region has once again drawn the world’s attention to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In the past 24 hours, dozens of Palestinians have been reported killed in strikes in northern Gaza, as part of operations by the Israeli army to prevent Hamas from regrouping.

According to a statement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday, operations in the Jabalya area of northern Gaza resulted in the elimination of several terrorists in close encounters. The area, already heavily hit by strikes this month, has seen mass evacuations ordered by the Israeli army.

Meanwhile, the Gaza Health Ministry reported on Saturday that Israeli forces are stepping up attacks on the health system in the northern Gaza Strip, directly targeting Indonesian hospitals, Kamal Adwan and Al-Awda. Munir Al-Barash, director of the Gaza Health Ministry, lamented the deaths of two patients in intensive care at the Indonesian hospital due to power outages.

The Hamas government media office in Gaza reported late Friday that 33 people, including 21 women, were killed in a strike in the northern Gaza Strip. The Gaza Civil Defense also reported casualties in several other attacks.

Communication with the northern Gaza Strip is extremely difficult, but a Palestinian interviewed by CNN, Ismail Zaida, described heavy strikes in the Saftawi area of Jabalya, with ambulances arriving constantly and loud explosions.

Civilians are fleeing the area, following evacuation orders issued by the IDF, as CNN footage shows residents leaving Jabalya for Gaza City.

It is important to note that this escalation of violence follows a major operation launched by the Israeli military, in response to intelligence reports of Hamas’ attempts to rebuild its operational capabilities in the region.

The ongoing tragedy in Gaza highlights the complexity and depth of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and serves as a further reminder of the urgent need for a long-term solution to end the suffering of civilians caught in the violence.
