Fatshimetrie, October 18, 2024 – During the closing of the “10th Great Witnesses” in Kinshasa, master’s students in infectious disease ecology at the One Health Institute for Africa were encouraged to distinguish themselves in solving health problems. Dr. Jean-Jacques Muyembe, Director General of the institute, stressed the importance for students to stand out and bring a unique approach to their health research.
On the other hand, Professor Didier Bompangue, Deputy Director General of Inoha, advised students to focus on specific topics in order to obtain effective solutions. He also stressed the importance of correctly posing health problems to facilitate their resolution.
Students face various obstacles in their research, such as financial constraints, access to the internet and means of travel. For Professor Bompangue, it is essential to address health problems in a comprehensive manner and to collaborate with other disciplines to find innovative solutions.
During this scientific event, several topics were discussed, including Ebola virus disease, Mpox and HIV, which are major challenges in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The key witnesses, experts in their respective fields, shared their experience and guided the students in their research.
This meeting allowed the master 1 and 2 students to present their research protocols in order to guide them in the preparation and defense of their work. Inoha, in collaboration with the University of Kinshasa and the Ministry of Higher and University Education, is committed to training a new generation of researchers capable of meeting public health challenges through a multidisciplinary approach.
Created in 2023, Inoha is part of a “One Health” approach aimed at finding innovative solutions to address public health issues. This research and training institution strives to promote academic excellence and collaboration between different stakeholders in the health field to build a healthier and more sustainable future for all.
