Fatshimetrie, the leading internet daily, reveals a significant advance in the field of electrification in Kisangani. Indeed, the Provincial Directorate of the National Electricity Company (SNEL) recently received three 60 KVA generators, coming straight from the General Directorate of this company in Kinshasa.
This new acquisition is of major importance for the city of Kisangani. In response to a request made by the governor of the province of Tshopo, the BCECO has implemented means to electrify the city. These generators will be used to power the street lights already installed on some of Kisangani’s main arteries.
Public lighting is a crucial issue in the fight against insecurity. Indeed, when night falls and the city is plunged into darkness, the risks of criminal acts increase. This is why the provincial authorities have decided to install more than 200 new street lights along the city’s strategic roads, such as Boulevard du 30 Juin and Route TP in Kabondo commune.
This initiative is part of a close partnership between the provincial government and BCECO, aimed at stimulating local investment and improving the quality of life of Kisangani residents. The hope is that this enhanced lighting will contribute significantly to public safety, by deterring criminal activities at night.
In short, the arrival of these new generators marks an important step in the electrification and urban development process of Kisangani. Hopefully, this initiative will ensure a safer and more pleasant environment for all residents of the city, and demonstrates the authorities’ commitment to improving the living conditions of the local population.
