On a recent trip to the North Kivu region, the Congolese Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, visited the site of Bushagara, Kibati groupement, to meet the displaced people who are taking refuge there. The purpose of the trip by the head of government was to discuss Kinshasa’s promise to bring the displaced back to their respective communities. In a message of compassion to the displaced persons, the Prime Minister assured that the President of the Republic has instructed the government to put all the necessary means to restore peace in their entities of origin, so that everyone returns to their natural living environment.
During his visit, the Prime Minister exchanged with the displaced and symbolically handed over food assistance and other material goods to relieve the suffering of the displaced persons. In his message, he also urged the Congolese to stand behind their defense forces to restore security and bring peace to the region.
Accompanied by several ministers and national deputies, the Prime Minister conveyed the sympathy of the entire government to the displaced persons who were forced to leave their natural living environments after the barbaric aggression of the terrorists of the M23, auxiliaries of the Rwandan Armed Forces ( RDF). Ministers present were Boji Sangara, Budget, Julien Paluku, Industry, Claudine Ndusi, Labor and Francois Rubota, Rural Development.
Beyond this visit, the North Kivu region remains one of the areas most affected by conflict and violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. There is an urgent need for local and regional leaders to work together to tackle these challenges
