The long-awaited appointment is finally set for history buffs and lovers of Egyptian culture. Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced on Thursday that the doors of the Grand Egyptian Museum, located near the Pyramids of Giza, will be partially opened from next Wednesday for a trial period.
This opening will mark the beginning of a series of phases during which certain areas and rooms of the museum will be accessible to visitors. This decision is part of the perspective of the official inauguration of this Egyptian cultural jewel, a true world treasure offered by Egypt to the rest of the world.
Built on approximately 500,000 square meters, the new Grand Museum will house the largest collection of antiquities belonging to the heritage of a single culture. Among the highlights to be discovered is the collection of 5,000 artifacts of Tutankhamun, of which 2,000 objects will be exhibited for the first time.
The museum’s vast exhibition halls will stand out for their proximity to the Giza Pyramids area and the New Administrative Capital, making the Grand Museum a gateway to Egypt’s past, present and future.
This iconic venue is expected to attract around five million tourists to explore this unique cultural and architectural treasure.
Egypt has rolled out a road beautification plan to the Grand Museum, including the creation of a new tourist promenade to the Giza Pyramids. The development of the area continues, extending from the Shooting Club area, through the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road to the Sphinx Airport and the Fayoum Road.
The partial opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum is therefore a major event, marking the beginning of a new era for the preservation and enhancement of Egypt’s rich heritage. This announcement is already generating excitement among travelers from around the world, eager to discover this sanctuary of Egypt’s thousand-year-old history.
