Kinshasa, October 9, 2024 – Yesterday, at the Egyptian Embassy in Kinshasa, a commemorative ceremony of great importance took place: the 51st anniversary of the Egyptian Armed Forces. This event was an opportunity to salute the bilateral cooperation in the military field between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In his speech, Colonel Muhammed Shawuaki, Egyptian military attaché in Kinshasa, stressed the importance of this cooperation established for decades between the two countries. He highlighted the multiple areas in which this collaboration is expressed, particularly in the military field. The Egyptian army, one of the largest in the world, has played a vital role in global stability and security through its active participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions.
The date of October 6, 1973 is a strong symbol for Egypt, marking the official existence of its army and representing a source of pride for the Arab people. Since then, the Egyptian army has continued to develop, strengthening its operational capabilities and expanding its international partnerships. Exchanges with other major powers have helped improve equipment and training, thus strengthening the armed forces’ readiness to meet current and future challenges.
This important ceremony was attended by many personalities, including the Egyptian Ambassador, Hesham El Mekwad, as well as representatives of the Congolese government, such as the Deputy Prime Minister of Transport and Communication Jean-Pierre Bemba, the Chief of Staff of the Head of State, Anthony Nkinzo, and the 2nd Vice-President of the Senate, Professor Bahati Lukwebo.
This commemoration marked a significant milestone in relations between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Egypt, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in the military field to ensure peace and security on a global scale.
