Celebrating the history and diversity of Kinshasa: the event show not to be missed!

Fatshimetrie, October 7, 2024 – The Wallonia-Brussels Center in Kinshasa will host the event show entitled “Kinshasa 100 years: from 1923 to the present day”. This theatrical and musical performance, scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2024, promises a fascinating dive into the history and culture of the Congolese capital.

Organized by Félix Caleb Djamany in collaboration with committed partners, this show is the result of the hard work of the students of the Kabambare high school, united by a common passion for the performing arts. For these young talents, novices on the stage, it is an opportunity to celebrate the centenary of Kinshasa through a unique, inclusive and moving project.

“Kinshasa 100 years: from 1923 to the present day” is much more than just a play. It is a journey through the different eras of the city, embodied by emblematic characters such as Henry Morton Stanley and significant events such as the participation of the Leopards in the 1974 World Cup. This historical and emotional show aims to be a living testimony to the social, cultural and sporting evolution of Kinshasa over the decades.

Supported by the Belgian-Congolese non-profit organization “Soleil Levant”, this educational and didactic project aims to raise public awareness of the importance of inclusion and cultural diversity. By highlighting talented students from the Kabambare high school and young visually impaired musicians from the National Institute of Arts and Entertainment, “Kinshasa 100 years: from 1923 to the present day” offers a unique perspective on the richness and complexity of the Congolese capital.
