Fight against urban banditry in Kinshasa: Local authorities commit to greater security

The phenomenon of urban banditry, which is particularly worrying in some communes of Kinshasa, is a problem that cannot be ignored. The inhabitants of Lemba, Kimbanseke, and Masina are facing a resurgence of criminal acts perpetrated by the “Kuluna”, urban bandits who sow terror and insecurity.

The local authorities of these communes have taken measures to combat this growing threat. In Lemba, Mayor Jean Serge Poba announced the intensification of patrols to apprehend the uncivil and organize mobile hearings in order to put an end to insecurity. It is essential to guarantee the safety of citizens and ensure a peaceful environment for all.

Similarly, in Kimbanseke, Mayor Jeancy Nganga has put in place new measures to eradicate the Kuluna phenomenon, by organizing patrols and raising awareness among young people to abandon this type of criminal behavior. Cooperation between municipal authorities and law enforcement is essential to ensure the tranquility of residents and prevent acts of banditry.

Furthermore, the deputy head of the Kasaï administrative district in Masina stressed the need to increase the number of police stations to deal with the resurgence of urban banditry. It is alarming to note that the population is terrorized by these criminal acts, and that urgent action is needed to strengthen security in the region.

It is imperative that concrete measures be taken to stem this scourge that endangers the lives and safety of the residents of Kinshasa. Increasing patrols, strengthening police forces, and raising awareness among the population are crucial actions to combat urban banditry and establish a climate of security and peace in these communities.

It is hoped that these initiatives will bear fruit and contribute to effectively combating the insecurity that is plaguing certain areas of Kinshasa. The cooperation of all stakeholders, local authorities, law enforcement, and citizens, is essential to guarantee a safe and peaceful future for the Congolese population.
