Congolese Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde visited Goma, in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri. As part of his security mission, he was successively received by the military governor of the two provinces and representatives of the security services. During these meetings, the security situation was assessed, humanitarian challenges were discussed, and recommendations were made so that the Congolese army can deal with the various threats facing the country.
The security situation in Ituri is progressing positively, but remains very worrying in North Kivu following the war of aggression and the presence of many war-displaced persons. Thus, appropriate measures have been taken to strengthen the means of the army in the face of this situation. The Prime Minister has received recommendations from his various interlocutors to find effective solutions to these problems.
The delegation accompanying the Prime Minister was made up of members of the government, sectoral ministers and national parliamentarians. Several topics were discussed during this security mission, including the ongoing Nairobi process and the Luanda roadmap.
The dramatic situation in the DRC is very worrying, particularly in terms of security and humanitarian problems. The meeting highlighted the challenges the country faces to ensure security and stability in the region.
The Prime Minister has promised to put in place adequate measures to help the army deal with this situation, but also to guarantee holistic care for those displaced by war and provide them with humanitarian assistance.
In short, this security mission of the Prime Minister in the DRC is a sign of the determination of the Congolese authorities to ensure the security and stability of the country. The recommendations made during this visit will probably be followed by concrete actions to guarantee the safety of the civilian population and communities confronted with violence and armed conflict.
