Access to electricity is a key element for the development of rural communities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The National Agency for Electrification and Energy Services in Rural and Peri-Urban Areas (ANSER) plays a crucial role in this mission, focusing on the electrification of rural areas, while the National Electricity Company (SNEL) is responsible for large cities.
Cyprien Musimar, Director General of ANSER, underlines the importance of this distinction, highlighting the Agency’s commitment to bringing electricity to remote areas of the country. Thanks to the instructions of the Head of State, ANSER has already installed electricity in several localities, thus improving the quality of life of the inhabitants and promoting the economic development of these isolated regions.
Anser’s work is not limited to the electrification of rural areas, but also extends to peripheral areas, offering more Congolese the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of modern electricity. With an ambitious program to electrify 49 cities, the Agency is committed to continuing its expansion to meet the growing energy needs in the country.
Anser’s recent successes include the installation of electricity in Ndjili Brasserie in Kinshasa, as well as in the Lukula territory in Mbata-Kiela in the Kongo-Central province. These projects not only contribute to improving the living conditions of local populations, but also to promoting sustainable and inclusive development across the country.
By providing reliable and affordable access to electricity, Anser represents real hope for rural and peripheral communities in the DRC. The Agency embodies a positive change in the country’s electrification strategy, demonstrating the government’s commitment to ensuring all Congolese people have equitable access to energy, an essential vector for progress and development.
