A new era is dawning for the General Inspectorate of the National Police in North Kivu with the inauguration of its own administrative building. Located on the edge of the majestic Mount Goma, this brand new building brings great relief to the agents and authorities of the region. Funded by MONUSCO through its police unit (UNPOL), this one-storey building covers an area of ten meters wide and twenty meters long.
This new structure offers a more adequate working environment, with seven rooms on the ground floor and separate toilet blocks for men and women. Its construction aims to put an end to the challenges faced by the police unit, which was until now a tenant in the province. The Deputy Inspector General of the General Inspectorate of Police, Divisional Commissioner Roger N’singa, stressed that this new infrastructure will contribute to strengthening operational capacities and the well-being of officers.
The total investment for the construction of this building amounts to USD 143,000, a substantial sum that reflects the importance given to security and justice in the region. During the inauguration ceremony, the Vice-Governor of North Kivu and the interim Head of Office of MONUSCO officially handed over the keys to the new building to the Congolese authorities, marking a new chapter in the development of police infrastructure in the region.
This building symbolizes not only the strengthening of police capacities, but also the commitment of national and international actors to support the security and stability of North Kivu. It embodies the hope of a safer and more prosperous future for the local population, by providing law enforcement with optimal working conditions to carry out their mission. Through this initiative, the cooperation between MONUSCO and national authorities demonstrates its effectiveness in building a peaceful and secure future for all.
