Kidnappers, Motorcycle Thieves Arrested: Ondo Security Forces Score Significant Victory

Three kidnap suspects have been apprehended by the Ondo State security unit, Amotekun, while sharing a ransom of N200,000 in Ikakumo, Akoko South-East.

The suspects, Obalogbe Temitayo, 19, Ogundele Ojo, 20, and Pelemo Samuel, 20, claimed to be farmers.

In an interview, Pelemo Samuel expressed regret over their actions, saying they kidnapped their victim in Ikakumo and negotiated a ransom with her family. However, they were arrested by Amotekun personnel while sharing the loot in a dense forest.

The suspects were paraded alongside 26 other suspected criminals. Commander-in-Chief Adetunji Adeleye said the kidnappers were arrested near the border town of Ikakumo.

Also, Michael Ojo, an ex-convict and motorcycle thief, was arrested and confessed to stealing many motorcycles in the last five years.

Ojo said motorcycles are now more valuable and easier to steal than other vehicles, which prompted him to engage in the illicit business.

Parading the suspects alongside 26 other suspected criminals, the Commander of the state security unit nicknamed Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspected kidnappers were arrested inside a dense forest near the border town of Ikakumo, bordering Kogi and Edo States.

The fight against crime and kidnapping in Ondo State remains a priority for the relevant authorities, and these arrests demonstrate the effectiveness of the security forces. It is essential to continue to support and strengthen these efforts to ensure security and peace in the region.
