The political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo is marked by tensions between opponents and the power in place, as evidenced by the article on the fatshimetrie.org site dated June 10, 2023. Thierry Monsenepwo, communicator for the political platform of the Head of the State, the Sacred Union of the Nation, took the floor to defend justice and ask opponents to let the competent authorities do their job.
Despite pressure from the international community and human rights NGOs, Thierry Monsenepwo remains firm in his positions and rejects any idea of judicial harassment of opponents of Tshisekedi. He recalls the principle of the separation of powers and brandishes examples of foreign justice to support his arguments.
Demonstrations by opponents have led to clashes with the police and damage to public property, arousing the incomprehension of Thierry Monsenepwo who denounces the instrumentalization of the high cost of living to hide the personal interests of opponents.
The fatshimetrie.org blog also offers other articles dealing with current events in the DRC, in particular the persistent security crisis in the province of Central Congo, the second wave of biometric identification of state agents in Kinshasa, insecurity in the Rwenzori sector or even the launch of a new agricultural program in partnership with DEM and Bio-Agro Business.
Beyond the political tensions, the DRC continues to advance in the modernization of its infrastructures, as evidenced by the article on the issue of national identity cards or the one on the preparation of the Leopards of the DRC to face the Panthers of the Gabon during CAN 2023. However, the security situation remains worrying with kidnappings of civilians, the illegal occupation of the residence of Moïse Katumbi and fears of an escalation of political violence.
The DRC is therefore a country to follow closely to understand the political, economic and security issues in the region.
