Political situation in the DRC: Thierry Monsenepwo defends the impartiality of justice despite accusations from the opposition and NGOs.

The political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo has fueled debates for months. While several opponents have been arrested for undermining state security, Thierry Monsenepwo, communicator for the Union Sacrée de la Nation, defends justice and ensures that it is impartial. Opponents, NGOs and some Western embassies point to a dictatorial approach.

Thierry Monsenepwo as well as the ruling party have been criticized for their lack of empathy in the face of this ever-escalating political crisis. While opponents Katumbi, Matata and Sessanga dispute the arrests of activists from their political party, Thierry Monsenepwo refutes any accusation of injustice or bias. For him, justice takes its course and everyone must be equal before the law, whether an opponent or a member of the ruling party.

These protest movements risk creating an escalation of violence in the DRC. They have also tarnished the reputation of Congolese justice, which has been under the international spotlight for several months. In recent months, incidents have also been reported in some provinces of the country, such as Kongo Central and Rwenzori. In addition, the launch of a promising agricultural project in partnership with DEM and Bio-Agro Business is struggling to meet the expectations of the local population.

Let’s not forget that the DRC is preparing to organize the next presidential election in 2023, and some opponents declare their intention to stand for election. If this is true, voters will have to choose between the continuity of the ruling party and the potential change that these opposing candidates could bring.

In a region still marked by insecurity, particularly with the presence of ADF rebels, the political situation in the DRC remains volatile. In the meantime, international partners are discussing with the Congolese government to find a concerted solution to prevent this situation from getting worse.
