The province of Haut-Uélé in the Democratic Republic of Congo is facing a difficult situation. Indeed, the synergy of civil societies in the region recently denounced the soaring prices of basic necessities, due to the overtaxation of goods at the Boh toll booth, as well as the presence of multiple checkpoints and toll booths. useless which overload the economic operators. This precarious situation is a source of concern for the local population, who find themselves plunged into precariousness without justification.
In a letter addressed to the provincial governor, the synergy of civil societies therefore requested the suspension of all services not assigned to the Boh toll booth, as well as the elimination of unnecessary checkpoints and toll booths. Faced with this situation, she also warns that if her requests are not taken into account, she will take charge of recovering her rights.
The Haut-Uélé region is thus facing economic problems, with soaring prices that weigh on local populations and economic operators. In parallel with this situation, other events are taking place in the country, such as the persistent security crisis in the province of Kongo Central or the political protest in the DRC.
Despite these difficulties, promising initiatives are also being implemented in the DRC. The country has thus launched a new agricultural program in partnership with Dem and Bio-Agro Business, which should make it possible to stimulate the local economy. Similarly, a new process for issuing national identity cards has been launched, which should make life easier for many Congolese.
In short, the situation in the DRC is complex, with significant challenges to be met in order to improve the quality of life of local populations and the country’s economy. However, despite these difficulties, many promising initiatives are also being put in place, offering encouraging prospects for the whole country.
