The security crisis persists in the province of Kongo-Central in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), with the presence of unidentified armed groups in the territory of Lukula. The Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the Interior and Security, Peter Kazadi, alerted on this subject during the Council of Ministers of June 9, 2023. The latter also informed the other members of the government of the murder of a customary chief by attackers called Mobondo in the area. The latter also carried out incursions into the territories of Kenge and Popokabaka, causing human and material losses.
In the same vein, the Mobondo militia tortured and terrorized the civilian populations, snatching several properties, notably from Iniangi and Iumbundi, arousing the anger of the government spokesman, Patrick Muyaya. However, efforts have been made to stop this violence, with the capture of a group of Mobondo assailants in Kunzulu localities as well as other areas of Kwamouth territory.
The security climate in certain regions of the DRC is worrying, and the authorities are continuing their work to remedy it. In addition to these security issues, other topics are also in the news in the country, such as the identification and training of state agents, the launch of a new agricultural program in partnership with DEM and Bio-Agro Business, and the preparations of the national football team for CAN 2023
