France recently awarded a €500,000 grant to the NGO Action contre la Faim (ACF) to support refugees and host communities in Uganda. This initiative comes under the 12-month project which will focus on the nutrition and food security of 2,000 households in the Nakivale and Kyangwali refugee camps.
The main purpose of this subsidy is to ensure access to a diversified diet, to encourage self-production of food and to support large-scale agricultural production to guarantee food security and household autonomy.
This ACF grant is a continuation of France’s support for vulnerable households in Uganda and reinforces its commitment to refugees. The NGO Action contre la Faim focuses on the prevention and treatment of malnutrition, raising public awareness and cooperating with farmers to improve food access and quality.
This initiative is perfectly in line with France’s international strategy for food security, which emphasizes the importance of combining humanitarian aid and sustainable development to effectively help populations in need.
In conclusion, it is essential to continue to support development and humanitarian assistance projects in Uganda, and the initiative of France and the NGO Action contre la Faim is an example of successful international cooperation to deal with a major and urgent problem
