Fight against insecurity in Lemba: Surprise patrols as an effective remedy

Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is the scene of growing security concerns. In the commune of Lemba, the population is plagued by insecurity, fueled by criminal acts perpetrated by armed individuals, commonly known as “Kuluna”. Faced with this growing threat, local authorities have decided to implement drastic measures to restore order and public tranquility.

Surprise day and night patrols are the main strategy adopted by the police to counter insecurity in Lemba. Now, the police operate unpredictably, targeting sensitive areas such as the Molo district, located on the border with the commune of Ngaba, known to be a hotbed of unrest and criminal acts.

Deputy High Commissioner Patrick Ilunga stressed the importance of this new approach in the fight against insecurity. In consultation with the police authorities, he called for the mobilization of special patrols to closely monitor the points of tension and intervene quickly if necessary. This initiative aims to reassure the population and guarantee its protection against the actions of delinquents.

The reactions of the inhabitants of Lemba testify to the urgency of the situation. The testimonies of Junior Bayila and Jeff Mavula report a climate of permanent insecurity, marked by repeated attacks and the rise of violence. These legitimate concerns are an urgent appeal to the authorities to strengthen the security of citizens and prevent any clashes between neighboring communities.

The head of the Molo neighborhood, Evariste Moloso, highlights the origin of the incivility, emphasizing the involvement of criminals who came from the commune of Ngaba to sow trouble in Lemba. This cross-border problem requires coordinated action by local authorities to stem the flow of crime and guarantee the peace of mind of the inhabitants.

The implementation of surprise patrols is not an isolated measure. In other peripheral communes, such as N’sele, law enforcement agencies have already used this strategy successfully to combat urban banditry. This proactive and dynamic approach illustrates the determination of the Kinshasa authorities to restore security and public order throughout the city.

In conclusion, the security situation in Lemba poses major challenges, but it also calls for a firm and determined response from local authorities. Surprise patrols represent an essential tool in the fight against insecurity and crime, offering the population a glimmer of hope for a safer and more peaceful future. It is imperative to continue and intensify these efforts to ensure the protection and well-being of all citizens of Kinshasa.
