In the heart of the Democratic Republic of Congo, more precisely in Bukavu, a rich mine of knowledge is emerging through the documentary park of the central library of the Higher Pedagogical Institute (ISP). With its 34,297 works, this emblematic place truly embodies the spirit of research and the transmission of knowledge.
Jacqueline Lutala, brilliant principal librarian of the ISP of Bukavu, proudly reveals to us the evolution of this sanctuary of knowledge. Indeed, the 2021-2022 academic year had closed with 34,164 physical works, a figure that was enriched by 133 new additions the following year. Each of these books represents an invaluable source of knowledge, ready to be explored by curious minds.
Beyond the numbers, it is the daily effervescence that animates the ISP library. This is evidenced by the 7,521 visitors recorded during the 2022-2023 academic year. Among them, 3,669 students took advantage of the resources during the day, while 3,852 night owls fueled their reflections late into the night. This place of light and learning has no borders, since it welcomes both males and females, with a distribution of 2,853 men and 999 women respectively. A diversity that enriches the dialogue of ideas and the construction of knowledge.
As an active member of the Bukavu Library Network (RDB), the ISP library is part of a collaborative and enriching dynamic. This network woven between the different institutions of the region promotes the exchange of knowledge, the pooling of documentary resources and the intellectual development of all.
Thus, through its abundant shelves and lively aisles, the central library of the ISP of Bukavu positions itself as a cultural beacon, a refuge for minds thirsty for knowledge.
