The Democratic Republic of Congo is preparing to host the 9th edition of the Francophone Games held in Kinshasa from July 28 to August 6, 2023. The Minister of Sports, François Kabulo Mwana Kabulo, confirmed, during an oral question with debate facing the senators, that all athletes will now be paid by the banked system like the players of the leopards.
The decision taken by the government seems to delight the sportsmen, in particular the players of the match of June 18 who benefited from a speed in the treatment of their wages thanks to this method of payment.
The Minister also announced that the national coach, Sébastien Desabre, received his Swift to settle the late payment of his salary. This decision will undoubtedly have positive impacts on the whole of the national team which had difficulty starting the playoffs.
In parallel, the Democratic Republic of Congo is also experiencing political and security tensions in the East, with a major incident reported in Kikwit recently. The current management of power, pointed out by some observers, could contribute to reinforcing these inequalities and tensions.
Despite everything, this year will be rich in news for the Democratic Republic of Congo, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the creation of the general file of the population, the visit of Jean-Pierre Lihau to Mbuji-Mayi or even the Hortense Kavuo Maliro’s presidential candidacy to defend the rights of people with disabilities
