Analysis of the difficulties of the state examination and avenues for improvement in the province of Kasaï Central I

Fatshimétrie, August 28, 2024 – The in-depth analysis of the reasons for the difficulties encountered during the ordinary session of the 2023-2024 state examination in the Kasai Central I educational province was at the heart of the discussions of the inspectors in Kananga, Kasai Central, a major educational center of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). During this meeting, the acting provincial chief inspector, Muamba Kalala, stressed that the haste with which the examination activities were carried out harmed some finalist candidates. Errors such as omissions of names on the lists and confusion between the photos of the candidates and their names were noted.

In an effort to improve, he recommended that the chief inspectors remain at their posts permanently, and that the other traveling inspectors improve their work in the field. A detailed report on the catch-up activities for the 2024-2025 school year is expected by the provincial main inspectorate.

In addition, the reading of the school calendar presenting the guidelines for the conduct of school activities was carried out for the benefit of the entire body of inspectors in the region. The massive failure recorded in several schools was also highlighted and raised questions within the provincial council of Education in Kasaï Central.

This observation underlines the importance of rethinking the methods of organizing exams and strengthening coordination between the various educational stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the tests. It is crucial to put in place effective measures to prevent such difficulties from recurring in the future, in order to guarantee the fairness and transparency of the student assessment process.

In conclusion, this introspection of education inspectors in the Kasaï Central I province demonstrates the desire to learn from past mistakes and to improve the education system to offer students the best conditions for academic success.
