“Fatshimetrie: Construction work on the Kasumbalesa electrical substation continues successfully”
The province of Haut-Katanga, located in the south-east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is the scene of an ambitious and promising project: the construction of the electrical substation in the Kasumbalesa border area. The work is progressing at a steady pace, now reaching 75% of its completion, with a deadline set for the end of September 2024.
Jacques Mbuyu, project manager, is confident about the progress of the work. He underlines the importance of this infrastructure which will ensure better electrical energy service in the region. For the first time, the population of Kasumbalesa will be able to benefit from electricity supplied by the national electricity company, Snel SA.
The investment made for the construction of this electrical substation represents a significant step towards the energy independence of the DRC. Indeed, with a capacity of 100 MVA for Kasumbalesa and 40 MVA for the border areas of Sakanya and Mokaambo, this project will strengthen the country’s autonomy in terms of electricity. Gaston Katumbi, responsible for distribution in Katanga, underlines the strategic importance of this infrastructure for the region.
The completion of this work not only constitutes technical progress, but also a major social issue. By ensuring a better supply of electricity, the Kasumbalesa power station will contribute to the economic and social development of the region, thus creating opportunities for residents. In addition, this initiative is part of a broader approach to modernizing the country’s energy infrastructure.
It is therefore essential to closely monitor the progress of this work and guarantee its completion within the planned deadlines. The commissioning of this electrical substation will mark a crucial step in the development of the region and will strengthen the position of the DRC in terms of energy.
In conclusion, the construction work on the electrical substation in Kasumbalesa represents an important step towards improving the living conditions of the region’s inhabitants, while contributing to the modernization of the country’s energy infrastructure. This project embodies the Congolese government’s commitment to sustainable development and the country’s energy autonomy.”
