The National Committee of the Initiative for the Transparency of Extractive Industries of the Democratic Republic of Congo (ITIE-DRC) occupies a crucial place in the landscape of natural resource governance in the DRC. For the period from February 16 to July 15, 2024, the financial flows allocated to the EITI-DRC amount to 4,358,738.75 US dollars, according to a press release from the Congolese Press Agency (ACP).

The analysis of the financial situation of the National Committee reveals a distribution of funds from various sources. At the top, the government of the DRC has released an amount of 2,073,423.90 USD, or approximately 25.52% of the total funding. Subsequently, international partners such as the World Bank, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, German cooperation and USAID contributed 25%, 3.70%, 0.37% and 0.16% respectively.

Despite this financial mobilization, the EITI-DRC National Committee finds itself with a significant amount to collect to reach its annual budget of USD 7,818,828.30. This leaves USD 3,460,089.55 to collect, representing a coverage rate of 44.25%. The implementation activities and the operation of the National Committee require additional resources to be carried out effectively.

The 2024 annual budget work plan highlights the financial challenges that the EITI-DRC must face to ensure transparency and good management of the country’s extractive resources. Cooperation between Congolese authorities and international partners is crucial to support EITI-DRC initiatives and ensure good governance of extractive industries in the DRC.
