**Fatshimétrie: Combating the Food Crisis in Nigeria**
The initiative to reduce the impact of the food crisis on Nigerians is a commendable move that deserves to be commended. Indeed, the Federal Ministry of Special and Intergovernmental Affairs recently announced in a letter signed by the Director of Human Resources, Jaiyesimi Abimbola, the establishment of a concrete action to support citizens in precarious situations.
According to the official letter, interested staff members are to fill a Google form available on the OHCSF website and submit it for approval. It is emphasized that all employees wishing to participate must follow this procedure to benefit from the assistance offered.
It is expected that designated officials will be responsible for the payment and distribution of rice, while the chairman of the Joint Trade Union Council of the ministry will act as an observer to ensure transparency in the operation.
This move is part of a series of actions undertaken by the government to improve the living conditions of citizens. Recently, distribution centres were set up across the country, allowing Nigerians to purchase 50kg bags of rice at an affordable price of ₦40,000.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris, noted that this initiative is part of the measures taken to support the population during this difficult time. Each staff member is entitled to purchase a bag, and it is even possible to buy a bag in a group to share.
In conclusion, the government’s commitment to addressing the food crisis in Nigeria is a positive example of social action aimed at meeting the basic needs of the population. It is gratifying to see concrete initiatives being put in place to support those most in need, and this illustrates the importance of solidarity and mutual aid during these difficult times.
