The Nzolana road: a project in progress to facilitate traffic in Kinshasa
Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, is a booming city where road traffic is often a major challenge for residents. However, a construction project for the Nzolana road, linking the UPN and Kimbwala neighborhoods in the commune of Ngaliema, could significantly improve the situation.
According to the Congolese Agency for Major Works (ACGT) and its partners Grec-8 and SISC S.A, the work is progressing at a good pace and could be delivered to the government by the end of December. This project aims to widen the current road from 6 to 14 meters, which will allow better traffic flow and safe travel.
However, the construction of this road is not without obstacles. One of the main constraints is the expropriation of local populations. To solve this problem, the ACGT works in collaboration with the local authorities to find adequate solutions and guarantee fair compensation to the people affected by the works.
Despite these challenges, Nico Nzau, director of the ACGT, remains optimistic about the timelines for the project. If the expropriation issues are resolved by September 15, additional steps will be taken to expedite the works and complete the construction of the Nzolana road by the end of December 2023.
This Nzolana road construction project is financed by Sicomines, a Chinese company, as part of its collaboration with the Congolese government. Once completed, this new thoroughfare will not only help facilitate the daily life of the inhabitants of Kinshasa, but also stimulate the economic development of the region by improving accessibility to businesses and services.
In conclusion, the Nzolana road construction project in Kinshasa is on track and could be completed by the end of December. This new road infrastructure will improve traffic in the Congolese capital, thus offering new opportunities for the economic development of the region.
