The tragedy of the terrible collapse of a school building: chaos and solidarity

The terrible collapse of a classroom building caused shock and dismay as students took their end-of-term exams. The dramatic event took place on Friday, plunging the educational community into amazement.

Testimonies collected on site reveal that the lower floors were mainly occupied by students in the first year of the college, while the upper floors housed the older students. Scenes of chaos and desolation quickly invaded the accident site, where cries of distress mingled with the desperate efforts of rescuers to save the victims.

Rescue operations were underway at the time of writing, with unprecedented mobilization by the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency. Under the leadership of Sunday Abdu, Executive Secretary of the agency, emergency response teams were deployed in large numbers, working closely with local authorities and other agencies involved.

The scene was marked by the excitement of rescuers, coordinating their efforts to clear the rubble and access the trapped victims. The Jos Metropolitan Development Board and other key stakeholders were also on site, providing logistical support and expertise to address this major challenge.
