“Fatshimetrie: The talented Congolese artist Fally Ipupa set the stage on fire in front of thousands of fans during his first concert in France on Saturday (July 6), as part of his European summer tour.
Spectators, young and old, flocked from all walks of life to witness the performance of the giant of African music in Lyon, a city in the southeast of France.
With a career spanning more than 20 years, Fally Ipupa’s music, anchored in Congolese rumba, has been enriched with African urban sounds.
Predictable and versatile, the singer sometimes also draws on American hip-hop. This skillful fusion, which contributes to the success of his hits, is also found in his dance performances.
“It’s a fusion, it’s beautiful colors, … it’s a real adrenaline rush,” said Isaac Kalonji, one of the choreographers on Fally Ipupa’s tour.
Alongside the singer during this two-hour show were musicians and dancers from his Congolese Sebène troupe, as well as French dancers.
The ‘Tokooos’ singer’s European tour will also take him to Italy after his time in Portugal and France.”
