Apart from the world of sports, there are other hot topics in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Security crises are taking place in certain regions of the country, making the daily lives of local populations very difficult. Local government invests in security to protect local communities.
On the other hand, the DRC’s economy faces economic, social and political challenges. Political parties lack ideologies and concrete programs to satisfy citizens. The legislative and provincial elections in the DRC are scheduled, but Martin Fayulu, the leader of the opposition, demands a reliable and transparent electoral register.
As for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for Ivory Coast in 2024, the excitement is gradually building among the fans. This competition is one of the most anticipated of the sporting year.
At the same time, the M23 rebellion reinforces its troops and threatens the city of Goma, in North Kivu, worsening the security situation in the region. Finally, a Catholic Cardinal, Luis Antonio Tagle, recently visited Goma to encourage peace and security.
