“Sacred Union lacking vision: will the re-election of Félix Tshisekedi be enough?”

Title: Sacred Union: a political coalition with no vision?

Since the creation of the Sacred Union, many political parties and sub-platforms have joined the coalition to support the re-election of current President Felix Tshisekedi. However, the absence of ideology and program raises questions about the relevance of this coalition.

Indeed, the major concerns of the country, such as the food crisis, the recovery of Congolese territory occupied by Rwanda, corruption and the lack of basic infrastructure seem relegated to the background. The only ambition of the members of the Sacred Union is to have Felix Tshisekedi elected for a second term.

This lack of vision and concrete policy highlights the professionalization of Congolese politics, where dominant actors focus on corporate concerns rather than real popular demands. Such a phenomenon can be explained through corruption, neopotism, neo-patrimonialism and clientelism, as analyzed by experts such as Médard, Bayart and even Lohata.

However, Congolese political personalities like Denis Mukwege, Franck Diongo, Muleka and other Mubake, are able to offer truly progressive public policies that are in line with the expectations of the Congolese. However, their voice remains muffled by a sclerotic political coalition, focused on the re-election of their leader.

It would therefore be appropriate for the people to demand a reorientation of the Sacred Union by defining a clear and coherent political program that meets popular expectations. Moreover, it is imperative that the opposition orients its strategy towards a real and radical change in governance, rather than giving the current majority legitimacy by accompanying it to the elections.

In short, in the absence of a vision and a coherent political program, the future of the Sacred Union remains uncertain in the face of the growing impatience of the Congolese people.
