Prime Minister Judith Suminwa’s vibrant call for unity and solidarity in the DRC

On this memorable day, Prime Minister Judith Suminwa made a remarkable appearance at Notre Dame du Congo Cathedral during the commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the death of Cardinal Joseph-Albert Malula. In a speech full of faith and determination, she called for unity and solidarity of the Catholic faithful in the face of the burning challenges afflicting the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The current context in the DRC is marked by a series of complex crises, ranging from armed conflicts in the east of the country to hotbeds of tension in various regions, including natural disasters which have hit certain communities hard. Faced with this disconcerting reality, the Prime Minister launched a vibrant appeal to Catholic mothers and the Church for unfailing support in the quest for a better future for the country.

The continuing war in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri, orchestrated by rebel and terrorist groups, as well as the unrest caused by the Mobondo militia in the former Bandundu Province and the devastating floods in Tanganyika and Other regions are challenges that the Congolese government and people are facing.

The Prime Minister’s request is not limited to prayers, but extends to collective and sustained action to overcome these challenges and build a future of peace and prosperity for all citizens of the DRC. Its call for solidarity and commitment of Catholic mothers, pillar of many communities, takes on particular meaning in a country where faith and unity play a crucial role in resilience in the face of adversity.

As a member of the Catholic Moms Movement founded by the late Cardinal Malula, Judith Suminwa embodies the hope and determination to continue the work of peace and justice initiated by this illustrious prelate. His vibrant and conviction-filled speech resonates as a call for general mobilization to meet current challenges and chart a path towards a better future for the DRC and its inhabitants.

The appeal launched by the Prime Minister resonates as an echo of solidarity and unity in a climate of multiple challenges and persistent crises.
