Gaza under the bombs: the cry of alarm from innocent civilians

In a series of relentless Israeli attacks, at least 42 civilians lost their lives in bombings on neighborhoods in Gaza City, in the north of the Palestinian enclave, last Saturday. An Israeli strike on houses in Al-Shati, one of eight historic refugee camps in the Gaza Strip, left 25 people dead. In addition, 17 Palestinians were killed in another strike on homes in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood.

These tragedies are part of the deadly conflict between Israel and Hamas, leading to massive displacements of innocent populations. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) described the situation as “unprecedented” following the deaths of 25 people last Friday near its hospital in Rafah.

“The bodies were piling up, the blood was everywhere. Honestly, it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen,” said William Schomburg, head of the ICRC office in Rafah, shocked by the scale of the tragedy. he had to face it. Since October 7, the death toll in the war between Israel and Gaza stands at at least 37,551 dead and 85,911 injured.

On the other hand, the number of deaths on the Israeli side following attacks launched by Hamas now stands at 1,139, while dozens of people remain captive in Gaza. This spiral of bloody violence continues to sow terror and suffering in the region, leading to immeasurable human losses and material damage.

Faced with this unbearable reality, the international community must act urgently to put an end to these human rights violations and find a peaceful solution to this conflict. The world cannot remain silent in the face of such atrocities and must work for peace and justice for all people affected by this desperately deadly conflict.
