The Francophonie Games are a major international event that highlights the diversity and cultural richness of French-speaking countries around the world. Each edition of this sporting and cultural event allows participating nations to come together in a spirit of exchange, friendly competition and sharing.
The Democratic Republic of Congo had the honor of organizing the 9th Francophonie Games in Kinshasa, a successful edition under the leadership of the President of the Republic. Building on this experience, the DRC is now preparing to pass the torch to Armenia, designated as the host country for the next Francophonie Games in 2027.
The announcement of this transition was made during a meeting of the council of ministers chaired by Prime Minister Judith Suminwa. A Congolese delegation will travel to Paris on June 27, 2024 for the handover ceremony between the DRC and Armenia. It is planned that the DRC will accompany Armenia for the next four years to share its experience and know-how in the organization of this international event.
Armenia was officially designated as the host country of the next Games of La Francophonie during the 126th session of the Permanent Council of La Francophonie. This decision, taken by representatives of the 88 member states and governments of La Francophonie, results from the recommendations of the Steering Council of the International Committee of the Games of La Francophonie.
This announcement marks the start of a new adventure for Armenia, which will have the difficult task of organizing an event of such scale. This is a unique opportunity for this country to showcase its culture, traditions and hospitality in front of an international audience from the four corners of the French-speaking world.
The Francophonie Games are much more than a simple sporting competition, they are moments of sharing, discovery and celebration of the diversity of French-speaking cultures. Armenia now has the opportunity to shine in the spotlight and show the world its dynamism and creativity.
In conclusion, the passing of the torch between the DRC and Armenia for the organization of the next Francophonie Games is the symbol of continuity in the promotion of the values of the Francophonie throughout the world. It is also an opportunity for each participating country to contribute to the richness and vitality of the French language and the cultures associated with it.
