The deceptive maneuvers of an MP: a shattering speech from the leader of the Rivers caucus

In a statement from the caucus leader, MP Dumnamene Dekor (PDP-Rivers), the parliamentary group accused Ugochinyere of spreading untruths in the media. According to the caucus leader, Ugochinyere has thrown to the winds the prudence, decorum and responsible conduct expected of the high office he now occupies. Dekor claimed that his media interventions were full of blackmail, half-truths, blatant lies, disinformation and malicious propaganda.

The lawmaker explained that Ugochinyere’s prejudicial media statements were also an irresponsible attack on the ongoing due process and legal proceedings aimed at resolving the Rivers dispute.

Dekor said Ugochinyere’s behavior violated the privileges of members of the caucus, the integrity of the House itself, and constituted a reckless violation of Articles 49 and 72 of the Constitution.

“The Rivers Caucus has drawn attention to another unfortunate and misleading press briefing by MP Ikenga Ugochinyere on Tuesday, June 18, over the ongoing dispute between the Rivers Governor and the House of Assembly, and recently , the presidents of local councils.

First of all, Ugochinyere is not from Rivers, so his political value is unquestionably non-existent except to those naive enough to fall for his low-end maneuvers.

The current situation in Rivers is of no concern to him as he hails from Imo, a state that is grappling with many political and social issues, about which Ugochinyere cannot find his voice.

The Rivers dispute was never brought before the House of Representatives to justify the intervention of other members in a debate.

“His actions undermine the privileges of the members of the Rivers caucus, the integrity of the House itself, and constitute a reckless violation of the Constitution under sections 49 and 72.”

This speech by the caucus leader raises important questions about the ethics and responsibility of political representatives and highlights the issues surrounding the political disputes faced by the various states in Nigeria. It also highlights the importance of transparency and truth in political communication to ensure a fair and equitable democratic process.
