The collective of inspectors, labor controllers and administrative agents recently made their voices heard through a poignant demonstration aimed at demanding justice and fairness. Indeed, on Wednesday June 19, these civil servants mobilized to denounce the delays in payment of their bonuses and salaries, accumulated since October 2023. This worrying situation led these workers to organize a peaceful march followed by a sit-down. -in front of the Government building, symbolically located on Boulevard du 30 Juin in Kinshasa.
Their action, marked by determination and dignity, was marked by the reading of a memorandum intended for Prime Minister Judith Suminwa. In this document, the labor inspectors express their legitimate request to see the instructions of the President of the Republic relating to the payment of their arrears be implemented. Indeed, during the 131st Council of Ministers last March, the Head of State insisted on the urgency of resolving this issue, urging the Ministers of Finance and Budget to accelerate the process.
Through this demonstration, these conscientious and dedicated workers call on Prime Minister Suminwa to make a firm commitment so that the payment of their bonuses and salaries is finally taken care of. They rightly demand that this delicate situation, which has deprived them of their just compensation for so long, finally finds a favorable outcome. The urgent appeal to the highest authority in the country highlights the importance of rectifying this situation urgently, in order to alleviate the suffering and difficulties faced by these essential workers.
Ultimately, the labor inspectors’ demonstration highlights the difficulties many civil servants face in carrying out their duties. This mobilization reminds us that recognition of work and respect for employee rights are essential pillars of a just and equitable society. It is therefore imperative that the authorities take these legitimate demands into account and act quickly to put an end to this precarious situation.
