The security situation in North Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo remains alarming, according to a report presented by Sammy Adubango, who worked in the military section of the traditional Congolese government council. The Rwandan army continues to actively support the M23 rebellion, which is destabilizing the region despite the ceasefire decreed following the Nairobi and Luanda agreements, as well as the presence of the EAC regional force.
The Congolese armed forces are on high alert against M23 terrorists, supported by the Rwandan army, in their expansionist desire to destabilize North Kivu. It was reported the reinforcement of Rwandan troops by the border post of Mwaru.
The M23 rebels have been reinforced with recruits at the end of training in Rwanda, in new maneuvers. They have relocated their Forward Headquarters to Kibumba and Rugari, in the area under the control of the EAC Force. The objective of this redeployment would be to attack the city of Goma to accentuate the humanitarian crisis and insecurity.
Faced with this worrying situation, the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo vehemently denounced the behavior described as “war-mongering” displayed in North Kivu by the Rwandan Army and its M23 auxiliaries in a press release published on Monday. .
