Optimizing the collection of tax data for economic development in the DRC

The seminar on the collection and exploitation of tax data organized on Tuesday, June 11 during the CREDAAF general assembly was a crucial moment to evaluate tax administrations and discuss current best practices. The objective of this event was to support member countries in their reform projects, capacity building and exchange of experiences in order to improve the collection and exploitation of tax data.

The Democratic Republic of Congo was represented at this seminar by a delegation from the General Directorate of Taxes, under the direction of Barnabé Muakadi. This meeting made it possible to share the challenges and successes of the various tax administrations present, while emphasizing the importance of regional and international cooperation in this crucial area for the economy.

In addition, the tax declaration deadline of June 15, 2024 is fast approaching, recalling the importance for taxpayers to respect this deadline to avoid possible sanctions. The tax authorities encourage proactive participation of taxpayers to ensure the proper functioning of the tax system.

In another vein, the nineteenth edition of the DRC Mining Week was an opportunity for young entrepreneurs involved in civil society NGOs to reflect on the extraction of minerals needed for the energy transition. These actors highlighted the importance of respecting local communities and the environment in this process, stressing the need for responsible exploitation of natural resources.

Finally, the situation of the 200 vehicles transporting goods blocked for two weeks on the Mambasa-Nania section of national road number 4 highlights the logistical challenges facing the country. This situation underlines the importance of investing in road infrastructure to facilitate trade and strengthen the national economy.

In short, these different elements underline the importance of effective management of tax data, active participation of taxpayers and responsible exploitation of natural resources to ensure the economic and social development of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
