Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, recently held a meeting with representatives of workers unions in the state. During this meeting, he made a commitment to start paying the minimum wage from June.
This announcement was made official in a press release published on Friday June 14, 2024 by Lawal’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris. He said civil servants in Zamfara State had already started receiving their June salaries on the 12th, ahead of the Eid-ul-Kebir celebration.
Before this decision, civil servants in Zamfara State were paid a paltry salary of N7,000. This new wage policy demonstrates the current administration’s commitment to the well-being of workers.
As part of the initiative, the Zamfara State Government, led by Governor Dauda Lawal, has made the payment of June salaries to support workers in their preparations for the Eid festival. This action is in line with the promise made by the governor last month to implement the N30,000 minimum wage.
Before this increase, civil servants in Zamfara State were paid salaries as low as N7,000. Since the start of its mandate, the government has been supportive of workers, ensuring payment of salaries withheld for three months, paid leave, bonus bonuses and salaries paid on time.
The government is committed to continuing its efforts to reform and revitalize the civil service in Zamfara State, thereby ensuring effective and equitable management of human resources.
The initiative marks a significant step forward in improving the living conditions of workers in Zamfara State, highlighting the importance placed by the Dauda Lawal administration on the welfare of civil servants.
