The discontent of the UDPS caucus Maniema: An under-represented province.

Discontent is brewing within the UDPS/Tshisekedi caucus in Maniema province. The members of this group affirm that the representatives of the presidential party are not sufficiently taken into account in the various national bodies of the party. In a memorandum addressed to Secretary General Augustin Kabuya, members of the UDPS Maniema denounce the lack of representativeness of their province within the party’s decision-making bodies.

According to Maître Bernard Takaeshi, former deputy minister of justice and influential member of the UDPS Maniema caucus, the province is largely under-represented in the party’s national executive, occupying no key departments. In addition, no representative from the region is present within the party’s democratic convention, nor on the ambitions management commission with 75 members. This situation is seen as unacceptable marginalization for fighters of the caliber of those in Maniema, endowed with skills and commitment.

Faced with this injustice, the UDPS/Tshisekedi caucus of Maniema legitimately demands to be treated on an equal footing with the other provinces. The members demand that their province be finally recognized and integrated into the various party structures, as well as state institutions and bodies. They call for a fair distribution of responsibilities and representations, so that Maniema can fully participate in political life and the democratic functioning of the UDPS.

This cry of anger and indignation expressed by the UDPS Maniema caucus reflects a deep unease within the political party. It highlights internal tensions and imbalances in the representation of different regions within the party. It is now up to the decision-making bodies of the UDPS to take these legitimate demands into consideration and to guarantee a fair distribution of responsibilities and opportunities within the presidential party.
