**Moon Sighting for Eid Al-Adha 2024: Decisions in Saudi Arabia and Nigeria**
The official announcement of the start date of the month of Zul-Hijjah 1445 AH was made by the National Committee for Moon Observation in a press release published on Thursday, June 6. Malam Yahaya Muhammad Boyi, secretary of the committee, said the Sultan of Sokoto designated Friday, June 7, 2024 as the first day of the month of Zul-Hijjah.
According to a report by Daily Trust, Eid Al-Adha 1445 AH will be observed on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
Professor Salisu Shehu, Deputy Secretary General of the High Council, said in a statement issued on Tuesday that the Sultan recommended Muslims to observe the sky for the crescent Moon marking the beginning of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah 1445 AH , after sunset on Thursday.
In Saudi Arabia, the Supreme Court announced Friday June 7 as the first day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah after observing the new crescent on Thursday evening. The Court also clarified that Arafat Day would fall on Saturday, June 15, followed by the first day of Eid Al-Adha on Sunday, June 16.
