The Extraordinary ICGLR Summit opens in Luanda, with the participation of international leaders.

The 10th extraordinary summit of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) has opened in Luanda and has the participation of several international leaders, including Félix Tshisekedi, the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The meeting aims to take stock of the Luanda and Nairobi processes, particularly with regard to relations between the DRC and Sudan.

In addition to the leaders of the CIRGL, those of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and those of the Community of East African States (EAC) are also present at these meetings, alongside the representatives of the African Union Commission and the United Nations Secretariat.

In this context, Félix Tshisekedi announced the holding of a quadripartite meeting under the coordination of the African Union, which will be held soon in Luanda and will bring together the EAC, the CIRGL and the ECCAS. The summit is intended to strengthen cooperation and exchanges between these organizations.

In addition, the DRC is preparing for the deployment of the force of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in the province of North Kivu, where the troops of the Community of African States are already deployed. ‘East. This force has an offensive mandate and aims to strengthen security in the region.
